Let me start by saying that I strongly believe that no one should wait Valentine’s Day to celebrate that one special person in his life. That said, as long as it doesn’t include buying fake roses last minute at the grocery store, I don’t see anything wrong with wanting to celebrate V-Day.
The following places are the perfect date night spot, whether you’re celebrating with your significant other, galentine or family.
Perles & Paddock
Perles & Paddock is the kind of tiny oasis that makes you feel like it’s acceptable to take a break from reality and escape to a place where the drinks taste like the prescription you need and the food feed both your soul and your stomach.
They recently updated their menu and are now offering many options that will pleased the vegetarians out there like confit leek with tarragon, brocoli semolina with pistachio and black garlic mayonnaise, along with confit cabbage served with daisy capers. During our visit, the high point of the meal was definitely the roasted artic char, presented with a dashi broth, daikon and enoki. Perfect flavor, great texture and the right balance between ingredients.
As for the cocktails, they are ones of the best you can order in the city. Their mixologist Frederique wisely suggested to me that I give a go to their “Rocky Road to Dublin”, made with Irish whisky, herbal liqueur, French aperitif, buckwheat honey, orange bitter. Absolutely delicious!

Inspired by the decadence surrounding the twenties, Bord’Elle is a bar and eatery that channels all the glam of that effervescent era. You go there to feast on their Asian and French fusion cuisine, before slipping into a more festive vibe as the night comes in. This is when the real party starts and Bord’Elle turns into a bar and lounge, with also a Whiskey Parlour and Champagne Room.
They recently celebrated their second anniversary with a lavish party and a 4 courses dinner menu that included Alaskan king crab, Bluefin tuna tartare and truffle cappelletti (all prepared by chef Andrew Ba).

The people behind Old Montreal Holderhave opened up a new venue that both acts as gastropub and upscale Indian restaurant. With the kitchen being run by Atma team, you can expect all your favorite dishes with a fusion twist served in a cozy, yet elegant vibe.
You’ll find the usual suspects among the entree listings, as well as a few pleasant surprises. Walking away from traditional cuisine, they offered creative dishes such as Indian nachos and butter chicken poutine. If you feel less adventurous, you can still give a go to their delicious Tikka chicken full of flavors or give a go to their very spicy Vindaloo chicken . Talk about a natural aphrodisiac!
